Digipak
What is a Digipak?
The digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs. Here are some examples from popular artists:
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP2
Kendrick Lamar - MAAD City
J.Cole - Forest Hills Drive
Kendrick Lamar - To pimp a butterfly
Designing my digipak:
When designing my digipak I used a couple photo's from the morning of the filming of our final video. I put both into photoshop CS4. Cut the head out of the original photo and placed it over the other image. I then lowered the opacity of the layer with the figure in it to 50% resulting in a very interesting image.
Here is my digipak, with all the editing complete on photoshop CS4.

Photos of Shoot
Here are some photos I had captured while we were shooting our music video on my mobile phone. They show some of the equipment we used such as a Canon 6DD with a tripod. The photos also show us planning it out, setting everything up, and working off our storyboard/shooting schedule.
Location - photos
As you can see, the location we picked was perfect for the music video setting. This location gave us thick, green wood, great lighting and generally an appropriate setting.

Track & Dolly - Experiment
This is our Track & Dolly shot experiment. We have annotated the video with text; telling the viewer what was wrong with certain parts and what needed to be corrected.
Jib Shot - Experiment
This is our Jib shot experiment. It shows us trying out the Jib, with the deodorant can representing the smoke grenades for the real project. We learned that we needed more practice with the Jib if we wanted to successfully use it during the real video shoot without wasting time.

Requesting Permission for location of music video
For our music video project, we are going to film and use certain equipment in the Corbet Woods. As it is a public space, we had to ask for permission of the land owner, shopshire council and inform the police of our plans.

Goodwins Theory
Key Points;
1 - Relationship between the lyrics and the visuals.
- Themes, mise-en-scene and events of the video match with lyrics of the song, to help to portray the message of the song.
2 - Relationship between the music and the visuals.
- The cuts and edits of the video are in sync with the rhythm and beat of the song matching cuts or effects to specific drum beats or notes.
3 - Music videos have genre characteristics
- Certain features are expected out of a video depending on the genre of the music, for example a girl bands/artists are expected to have dancers and close ups of the singers, whilst a Indi band are expected to have performance shots ofthe band and cut to a fast beat.
4 - Often due to the demands of the record label, artists videos will include many close ups of the artist and will often develop motifs that recur across multiple videos
- This allows the record label to promote a set image for the band, which will help target audiences empathise with the band.
5 - Emphasis on 'looking'
- The 'male gaze' is often used to attract a male audience. The male gaze is a focus on presenting things that appeal to men. This often means a voyeuristic view of, and an objectification, of women. The emphasis on looking also includes the artist looking directly into the camera helping the audience connect with the artist.
6 - Intertexual references.
- Music videos reference other forms of media, most commonly film, but can alos be television and other music videos.

Over Cranking
For this task we had to over-crank our music track (speeding up). We achieved this by importing the audio file into Final Cut Pro (Application). We dragged the audio file into place, clicked on Motion, then increased the speed of the overall track.
